The simple, shining moments...

Brock had his first singing/speaking part in the elementary school musical {Cinderella} yesterday. I was so proud of all the students that had major roles. It was the sweetest production I've seen in a long time. So full of color and fun. I'd post more pictures, except that I didn't get permission from all the families...so you'll just have to trust me that it was cute. =)
Brock doesn't have an edge against most of his classmates when it comes to sports and natural ability or speed, so when he had this opportunity, he jumped at it and I think that smile you see just after the show tells so much. We keep trying to encourage him to just be good at what he loves and in everything else in life always do your best.
Ava is just learning to ride a 'big girl bike'. {And don't worry, she just happened to not be wearing her helmet in this picture, but normally we make sure she has it on 99% of the time...} She is getting faster and better at stopping too. I love that I gave her a boundary- she can ride down the street a few houses to where she sees a yellow fire hydrant and then she's to turn around and come back. So far, she rides right to the 'yellow spot' and then comes back. It's one of the few rules she does obey lately and it makes me happy knowing that once in awhile mothering has its rewards.
The smiles I get everyday are enough to keep me going. The obdience is just icing on the cake.
Happy Mother's Day one day early, to all my Mom readers and friends. I think we should really get a week-long celebration and pampering for all our hard work. But one day full of smiles and obedience will be gift enough to me.

What kind of camera do you have? What kind of editing software do you use? You take great pictures.

I just have to say that I think that it's the cutest thing that you now call your baby "baby burger"... good thing you could find out, right? How funny would it be... "baby filet-O-fish"!
You look adorable!

I just stumbled on to your blog from a comment you left on Sheye Rosemeyer's blog months ago. The article about Teagan made me cry. but it echoed many things that we feel about the loss of our little girl Jenna. God allowed it for some purpose we don't quite yet understand, but we are trusting him.

I met you at Target yesterday. It was so nice to meet you in person! I feel bad that I know so much about you from reading your blog, but you don't know anything about me other than I have 2 children, so please feel free to visit my blog and get to know me too!

Well, here's hoping that "obedience" becomes a little more important than just "icing on the cake" sometime BEFORE Kindergarden!

Hi, Jody!
Your last couple of blogs have inspired me to look over your layouts on the Scrap In Style site. I've never done any scrapping, but your creations inspire me to try it out. I love your stuff, especially the minibooks ~ they are soo cute!

To answer the camera question...I have a Sony Cybershot DSC R-1 {it's a fairly big camera that I got for 'free' by cashing in Sony points and it has 10.3 megapixels}. I generally use my hp photosmart premiere for editing. It came with my hp computer and has lots of 'automatic editing options'.
Thanks for the nice comment, but I feel like I have so much to learn when it comes to photography. I take hundreds of 'bad photos' and blurry pics, but I can usually crop and clean up a few of them- enough to keep posting pics on my blog and keeping my family members who live far away up to date with pics! That's the most important thing I think- is to capture the moment first. And work on getting the photos more technically correct as I have time to learn and play with my camera.
Hopefully I'll get my camera figured out one day. =)

Do people have to suck and leave nasty comments here all the time? I mean, get a life!

Personal note to the person who's comments I keep deleting...
As long as you continue to try to start something around here and you choose to be 'small' about it and post anonymously, then yes, I will continue to delete comments. It's my right and I have every right to maintain my own blog and try to keep it free from trash. There's enough garbage in the world. I choose not to perpetuate it here at Nitty.Gritty.
And again, nobody is making you read this. If you find it so annoying and offensive, then I suggest you just stop checking in. Your life will be much happier. I wish you the best in finding a better path in life than just trying to bring others down.
