The size of a kidney bean...

That's what the pregnancy sites say about the baby inside of me- at 8 weeks it's about the size of a kidney bean. So how is it that a baby that small can kick my tail and wipe me out the way it does? I will never figure that out. I laid down next to Wyndham while she watched a cartoon late yestderday afternoon. Chip and Brock were at lacrosse practice. Bella and Ava were playing 'kitchen' in the playroom upstairs. The next thing I know Spongebob is over. I had slept for almost an hour!
I'm the kind of person who never gets naps. My kids never take naps. So this was a shock to me. And the scary part wasn't that I fell asleep fast and hard. But that by 8:22 pm I was doing all I could to keep my eyes open for the night!
Hopefully this phase will run its course quickly. In the meantime, I'm feeling like I should win the 'biggest slacker Mom' award. I bet I'd fall asleep during my acceptance speech though. =)

Jody- I never put in my 2 cents worth on the name list for the upcoming bitty nitty gritty, so here it is:

For a boy, or girl:

Chance

I think it is such a cool name!

I can definitely relate! I'm 12 weeks pregnant now. I was 6 weeks pregnant before I knew I was pregnant and was getting so tired but I thought it was all b/c we were finishing up our house and working so hard. It's amazing that your body makes so many sudden changes b/c of a tiny little life inside! This is my first so all of this is new and exciting for me. I can hardly wait to hold this miracle in my arms. I'm due Sept. 1st just one month before you! I'm keeping you and your entire family (all those precious kids) in my prayers. I love reading your blog every day!

Hmm, I think we will be co-awarded that "slacker" award:) It's a little better now in week 17 than at the kidney bean stage (mine's a turnip size, btw)...but dang, I am SOOOOO sleepy (but I'm sure we'll be able to catch up once they're born, right? HA!:)

Goodness, what a breathtaking miracle life is. I am so amazed at the entire process and how that "tiny little bean" will take you on a life long rollercoaster ride! I am finally feeling like I, with God's help, can handle another baby. I feel like the spirit is speaking to me lately saying, "don't you know what you are missing out on by being afraid? Just go ahead and do it, you'll see! Everything will be fine!"

As for names..you'll know the right one to choose! XO

Holy cow can I relate to you. When I was pg with my DD...holy cow I was sooo tired. I didn't do anything, pretty much slept all day..and I was sick. That sucked. Poor hubs had to do everything. =) Love your blog!

Have a wonderful day!

I remember those days, Hang in there...you would never be nomitated as "biggest slaker mom" let alone win the award...sorry but you wouldn't!! You are an amazing mom and if the kids let you sleep then go for it!!!

So I think I'm the only commenter that's never been pregnant, but DUDE... YOU'RE GROWING A HUMAN BEING. INSIDE YOUR BODY. That process never ceases to blow my mind. I think it's your right as the host of a growing kidney bean to be as tired as you want. And as hungry. And as grumpy. And as emotional. Seriously. You're harboring a new human so you pretty much rock. And should get whatever you want :)

slacker?????? I think not. You have had enough on your plate in the last month or more to make anyone tired. And getting your rest is helping another one of your children (the child growing within you). What suprises me in this whole deal is that you had children playing well enough together to let you sleeep for an hour. Your doing something right. :)

Okay girlie........here is the thing the only "slacking" that NEEDS to happen here is for you to cut yourself some slack!!!! :*) big smile!!!! You are (as others have also mentioned) been thru an ample amount of stress which in itself would wear one out, let alone having a bean sized baby growing inside of you! That IS pretty amazing isn't it!?!?!? The whole birth thing is an absolute miracle!!! I think you FEEEL the most of this during this first trimester time and, even tho we (us women mostly) are pushed to realize it...Stress, and things of that nature really saps our energy!!!! Put all these things together and you have quite a recipe for being tired!!! Exhausing actually!!! It is perfect that you got a nap as you did. I say, listen to your body, it is speaking to you!!! As someone else so eloquantly mentioned.....you ARE taking care of one of your babies...

As we can all see from reading your great blog, you do a great job at taking care of each one of your sweet little blessings!!!
I am certain God looks down on you with great pride.......you are a fine example to all of us!!!!
Love & blessings!

Ok,I'm so glad I've been reading the comments to this post, because they have encouraged me! I feel like the slacker mom too! I'm 28wks pregnant w/my 4th and it NEVER ceases to amaze me at how old I feel when I'm pregnant! But it is all worth it and I can't wait to hold this precious miracle. God is awesome, isn't He?

Never, ever forget that while you are pregnant and nursing a baby you never do "nothing" even when you are sitting still or sleeping-you are creating another human being or creating nourishment for another human being---(someone told me that when I was preg with my 2nd--i went on to have 5 more!)(now that's a lot of nothing!);)

I would definitely be in the nominations for the slacker award!!! Boy does that knock your body for a loop. I knew I was pregnant at that point but it sure didn't help. Hang in there! Here is my favourite website for checking out baby's growth...it has 3D ultrasound pictures. It's so cool!

You're right about the post above...not every day can be filled with chocolate waffle cones but could I just have one today? Puh-LEASE?

Hey Jody-I sooo remember those days. With Ethan, I was sick the entire time and I was super tired. I thought to myself often, "how do women with children do this?" I think the change is very dramatic and it's quick. Those first fourteen weeks are especially the hardest. I want you to know that I'm thinken' of you sweetie and sending you my luv. Hang in there and don't feel bad about taking care of yourself and the new baby. Take those naps, eat to your heart's content and sit down as much as you want. You deserve it!! -Christine
