Nitty.Gritty. stuff revisited

These pictures here have all been posted at various times in my archives. I pulled them out because I like them and because I've had enough "controversy" within this blog the past couple of days. Besides the comments I had some thoughtful emails in my inbox too. (Feel free to send me mail- anytime...remember? I LOVE mail. =) nitty.grittyjody@yahoo.com
It's not that I am running from other people's views. I just want to be careful in the things I do say here. And so, I'm taking a day or two to chew on all the comments I have had presented to me before I would think about adding or taking away from anything I've already written here. I love good debates (I have a degree in communication, remember? Debate was one of the topics I studied in college- good stuff.)
What you get today is a little bit of my Nitty.Gritty. fluff- the stuff that I like or am good at. Good at lip balm? Actually, I'm good at using it and enjoying it's cute packaging and taking pictures of stuff that doesn't move around while I'm trying to get the shot, makes me happy. That dessert? It's Raspberry Shortbread Tart from the second issue of Rachel Ray's Everyday food magazine. I've made it a couple of times. I posted the recipe somewhere here- I think back in February or March. It's tastes as good as it looks. And the t-shirt? I still haven't made this design. I know I should check out CafePress- I've heard that from more than one of you. I was thinking the last day or two, "maybe I do blog too much". I say what's on my heart and mind without thinking twice. Maybe I should just stick to tshirts and recipes and things that don't move. There's a lot less emotion involved. Hmmm. I guess I'm gonna think about all this a bit. Feel free to send me your thoughts too.
They help me to sort out mine!

I love reading your blog -- it is my FAVORITE -- I love it because you go a little deeper -- When I read it I always walk away feeling so glad that I stopped in -- NOT FEELING LIKE I WAS WASTING MY TIME WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING SOME HOUSE WORK -- PLEASE keep it coming

You will absolutely NOT just stick to recipes and lip balms and things of that sort, missy.

You've got a great blog (one that I need to catch up on here, b/c I haven't read the past couple of days)- and I'm glad someone has time to think a little deeper 'cause lately, I'm all lip balms and recipes and things of that nature, ya know.

you're a blessing, jody.

Jody, try not to let "negative" comments get you down. You should blog for yourself first and foremost, and along the way others will see what an awesome person you are. As far as that anonomyous comment goes, I personally didn't take it in a negative way. I try to look at it this way: that person may just have had the door of communication shut in their face by their parent, or they may have been made to feel like a failure for choosing the path they choose for themself. We just don't know; so for many of us who are loving, caring parents or who have loving, caring parents it is hard for us to imagine a parent not being their child's number one fan. And for those children or adults who don't have that nurturing parent who unconditionally loves them, it may be hard for them to relate to somebody else's joy and pride in having such a loving parent. Therefore, a statement such as the one made by the anonymous blogger may not have been intended to be offensive or to create controversy; that person just may not know how great it feels to know that a parent is your number one fan. I'm thinking of my one brother in particular while I write this. He has Reactive Attachment Disorder; he simply does not get emotionally close to people. He was 11 when my parents adopted him, and while I know that my parents love him and put as much faith and hope in him as they did any of their other children, he simply does not realize it. The thought is foreign to him. Because he did not bond with
his biological mother(or anyone)at birth and as an infant, he is unable to form deep bonds now as a young adult.
Ok, I realize I'm rambling now, so I'll get to the point. I think the anonymous blogger was just expressing their feelings and not necessarily trying to bring you down.
So please, don't let that comment hinder your blogging style. You receive far more comments on how great you make everyone feel; if someone doesn't agree, so be it.
I'm glad to be back in the blog-world again so I can see what you are up to and to hear your viewpoints again! :)

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to Emily. She said what I was thinking.

I didn't take any of the replies to be negative or controversial. Just another way of looking at something. That's all.

I think a blog ia about who you are, your feelings etc, so you should be free to speak your mind and share your feelings.

I enjoy the fact that your blog is deep and always gives me something to think about.

Don't change your style, stay just as you are.

I also agree w/ Emily and Katie.

I think if you are going to propose to attempt to inspire others (which you do) and also rejoice in getting post replies to your articles, you are bound to have some disagreement. But I don't think that's a bad thing. We can all learn from each other.

I, for one, saw nothing mean-spirited about the annonymous post. I just saw a person respectfully saying her opinion on the matter. Which is a good thing -- that your blogs are making people think and express their ideas as well, right?

Jody, I've been reading your blog for only a few months but feel like I have known you a lifetime. Your approach to life is just what I NEED, real! You have this awesome way of just making people stand up and 'really' listen. Maybe your anonymous poster was hit with a little reality check. Which is okay, especially if it causes to look at our past to be better people.

I was listening to one of my favorite cd's yesterday and I relized I never really paid close attention to the words of one of the songs. Hopefully you will endulge me for sharing a LONG post!! lol It is Matthew West off his History album.

It's been a bad day. You've been looking back and all you can see is everything you wish you could take back. All your mistakes. A world of regrets. All of those moments you would rather forget. I know it's hard to believe. Let me refresh your memory.
Yesterday is history and history is miles away. So, leave it all behind you but let it always remind you of the day, the day that love made history.
Would you believe that you are history in the making. Every step that you are taking. Every chain that you are breaking. History is in the making. Evrey word that you are saying. Every prayer that you are praying. Every chain that you are breaking. History is in the making.

Back to me.....
IF you help others to look at things in thier lives then you are doing a good thing! We weren't promised to have an easy life BUT to have help living it.
Don't change what you are doing here. You are a blessing to many you don't even know.

Jody--

Remember ONE thing-- THIS is YOUR blog.

You cannot let some random readers (or regular readers for that matter) dictate you.

your posts
your thoughts
your feelings
your struggles
your successes
your hopes
your dreams
your desires
your happiness
your love

Those things are yours and YOURS ALONE.

What you choose to blog is completely up to you. No one says a blog has to be everyone's views or politically correct-- that's why they can make their own blog.

Your blog is such an inspiration. For example... (I shouldn't even admit this) Last night was a busy evening in my house. We had our A/C fixed and company stopped by. Before I knew it, it was 7:30, my kids hadn't had dinner and I HAD to go to the store. It was 8:30 when I got home with a quick fast food meal for my boys and my husband. As I drove home with the overwhelming aroma of curly fries, I almost cried because I felt like the WORST mom in the world for feeding my family fast food, at 8:30 on a school night no less.

That's when YOU popped into my mind-- not that you would be in this situation-- but how YOU would nandle it.

I stopped and said to myself that this wasn't my best day of parenthood (or wifehood) but that today is almost over and that tomorrow is just around the corner. Tomorrow I will try that much harder and tomorrow will be better for my boys, my husband and me!

And guess what? Today is a much better day than yesterday!

God Bless You Jody-- You are You and We Love You!

PS Sorry for such a long blog... I should have just emailed it to you!
