"Brighter Skies"

You know what they say... "Ask a busy person to do something and you'll likely get them to answer, 'yes'. That's why they are a busy person!" Well, it goes something like that. I couldn't help but say yes to my friend, Christine, when she invited me to be the guest designer for September's Cocoa Daisy scrapbooking kit club. I have not been scrapping or being creative at all lately- unless you count making a baby =), and so this was not only a fun kit to work with, but a great opportunity for me to get back into scrapbooking again. I've been missing it!
The pages and Starbuck's mini album can be clicked on and enlarged to see details and journaling, if you like. The full kit and all the product details are here- at Cocoa Daisy's online store. I just love the mix of papers and the fabric covered brads are fun for added texture and dimension on the page. They made cute closures for the mini album too. I am feeling so happy about scrapping again, and I am grateful to have been given such great products to design with that I want to give one of you the chance to get happy about scrapping too. If you leave a comment on this post with your name and city- and maybe your favorite picnic food or summer dessert since it is Labor Day weekend just around the corner- then you'll have a chance to win the Cocoa Daisy custom cloud stamp and a few other goodies that I'll pack up and send to you. I'll choose a winner on Friday... good luck!

Jody.....first of all let me say congratulations on baby Teague. He sure is adorable! (And I'm *amazed* that you're able to not only slide right into adjusting to one more family member, but that you're able to be creative with scrapbooking -- great pages!) OK, so to follow the rules about getting a chance on the Cocoa Daisy goodies...... I LOVE the old strawberry/jello/pretzel dessert for summer picnics...... Happy Labor Day weekend!

Jody! I love your pages. I feel so inadequate when I see what great scrapping you do!!!

I make a pampered chef lemon cake- that I love to take to summer parties, it is refreshing and you can make a glaze to go on top of them, I have the silicone floral pan to make little cupcakes in- it is cute and yummy!

Beautiful family you have!

My favorite picnic food would be cold fried chicken. Favorite summer dessert...gosh this is a hard one as my brain is on the MN State Fair right now and thinking of cheese curds and pronto pups and everything-on-a-stick :)

My mom made this dessert with a Jiffy cake, vanilla pudding, Cool Whip (you know it) and fresh blueberries. Killer. :)

I am Julie from Baltimore, MD, and my favorite summer food is anything grilled by my husband. :) You don't know how good it is to see a layout from YOU - sure have missed your style! But as a mom of 7 myself, I TOTALLY understand the lack of time. So glad you are *back*

First, Congratulations again on your beautiful 7th blessing! He is handsome and is sure to be a charmer (if he hasn't started already ;)
Second, your scrapbooking is always so beautiful. I don't know how you make the time to do it and have the energy to spark creativity. You must be super mom. I seem to always be one without the other, time and the creativity spark. Someday :)
And thirdly, I would have to say that my favorite summer dessert would be... lemon bars. Yes, lemon bars. I can't think of anything more summery to top that.
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

I can not find the time as a mother of 2! It would be nice to get back to being creative.

I would have to say, as a last hurrah to summer... anything with J - E - L - L - O and Cool Whip!

Favourite pic nic food would be fruit salad (made with real fruit, not canned!) Favourite summer desert: rhubarb pie! I live somewhere that's too hot for rhubarb and I always look forward to going to Michigan every 2-3 years, in June-July and FILL UP on rhubarb! My mother-in-law always keeps some for me so I can bake and cook with it to my heat's content: rhubarb fool, rhubarb sauce, pie, etc. YUMMY!

I love potato salad, watermelon, and something chocolate. Unfortunately, I have to fit into a mother-of-the-bride dress in 4 weeks, so I need to try and be good.

Congrats on baby Teague, he's a little love for sure. Your layouts are just lovely, so soft and warm. As for our favorite summer desert, fresh Georgia peaches from Trader Joes have been our go to sweet all summer long.

You really shouldn't ever STOP scrapping! You are so talented! Your pages of Teague are beautiful!

My favorite picnic foods: my sister makes a jello with cool whip mixed in and it separates out and is jello on the bottom and a thicker, delicious, jello on the top. She'll top it with berries and it is YUMMY! Another I like is a broccoli salad I made with broccoli, cauliflower, bacon, onion, and tomato dressed with mayo & vinegar. It's always a crowd pleaser & makes a ton!

Congrats to the FERLACK Party its amazing how big families just take on a new member so effortlessly. Our family just welcomed our 8th child and what a blessing--- he is. God always has a plan were just along for the ride. My motto for survival somedays is "I won't remember how crazy bad of a day this was in 10 years but the kids will-so be mindful of how I handle these days-and pray." And my favorite dessert for labor day festivities is a super bowl dump cake. Tammy in Higgins Lake,MI

Completely marveling at how you create time and space to be creative. I so admire that quality, someone who protects a bit of time to express themselves in this way. And this is adorable :) Your kids will love having these one day.

I am in apple mode already and all I dream of making is an apple crisp or an apple buckle :)

Hi Jody! Teague is adorable- and I looooove that name- good choice! :) Hmmm, favorite dessert, I would have to say old fashioned (but completely home-made) chocolate chip cookies- I never tire of them. Have a great day! :)

I make Becky Higgin's chicken and dill pasta salad. It has celery, roasted almonds and it is delish. Check out her website (recipe tab) to find it. I am making it for a big BBQ this weekend.
I would LOVE this mini-album. I am obsessed with creating and giving these albums as gifts. My "scrap group" would love to see it also.

So adorable! I love it.

I'd have to say ice cream. I didn't get "good" ice cream in Africa, so it's been nice to enjoy cookie dough, black cherry, and superman once again after a year hiatus. :)

I have never posted but I love reading about your family. I have 5 girls so I know what it's like to be a big family and be very busy. I love it though and wouldn't trade it for anything! I have lots of scrapbooking/stamping supplies but could always use more:) May God bless you and your family. I don't really have a favorite summer food. I just love food. If I had to pick it would have to be some kind of pasta salad.

There must be something in the air...I dug my scrapping goodies out of the closet over the weekend and attempted to get some projects started/completed while chasing the kiddos around! Let's see, my favorite summer dessert would have to be strawberry shortcake even though I couldn't eat any this year because the new baby screams herself hoarse if I eat strawberries! :(

Congratulations on your newest addition, Teague! You are definitely an inspiration for moms everywhere.

Our favourite "picnic" food this time of year is, without a doubt, peaches and cream corn on the cob. Yummy!

I can't having any mental time to be creative - but you sure are.
