Good practice.

If you're my friend on Facebook, you may have noticed my post/link about the cake you see in the pictures here. We woke up to such a cool morning here in Michigan, and after taking the kids to a park and picnic to play with their classmates for this upcoming school year I was ready to warm up inside for the afternoon. Rather than turn on the heat, I looked up a recipe for Chocolate Zucchini cake and I baked instead. It did warm the house and it made the kids happy too. I had enough Reddi-wip on hand to top this cake off and even give Crew a few mouthfuls straight from the can. The cake, we decided, just might be the one we make for Crew's first birthday, which is just around the corner. I know, I know. It's hard to believe he's going to turn one. But the calendar doesn't lie.
I have a feeling, based on his happy squeals and hand-clapping after some morsels of cake, that he will be more than ready for a party and piece of cake all his own.

You are so fun. I love reading your daily stuff. I cannot wait to make this recipe! If only I could get a little of the Michigan weather down here in Houston... it would be perfect! :)

Jody, I love how you do the "don't's." I've bought lots more Redi-Whip since following your blog than the rest of my life combined!! LOL. People say "Life's too short...." I prefer Ricky Scagg's thoughts on life: Life's too long to live like this. Thanks for reminding us to do the little thing that bring a giggle and a smile.
I hope you're pulling out of your "funk." You are in my prayers.

That's right, Crew was born on my middle daughter's birthday, September 19, right?

That cake looks yummy. Yes, Michigan has had a very cool summer! I have enjoyed it though.
