It must be fall...

We received some wonderful goodies from the floral shop this week from Chip's parents...big baskets of candy, chips, mixed nuts, apples, oranges, sausage and cheese...thank YOU! As Grandma Karen can see from these pictures, the kids were more than excited to have "Halloween come early". Although Crew just slept through all the excitement. I guess he doesn't have a sweet tooth yet. =)
That little owl on top of the snacks came from a friend along with some other cute things for Crew. We have been so blessed by the outpouring of support and love and care from so many friends and family. Thank you to each and everyone of you! The baby announcements are being made and heopfully will be in the mail sometime this next week.
A little note about the card design... the black & white image of Crew was edited and emailed to me by my fashionista friend, Corinne. I love that photo of him...thanks, Corinne! Next, I found the circus image here at flickr.com. It was just the type of picture I was looking for and I was so happy to get approval to use the image from the designer, Jon Turner. I emailed him earlier this week and told him how much I liked his illustration and he was more than willing to let me use it for Crew's cards. So thank you, Mr. Turner! Yet another reason for me to love the internet. =)
One of the things I remember so clearly about my first pregnancy with Teagan was the night my parents came over and Chip and I had a spread of cards sitting on our coffee table. We were working together on making Teagan's birth announcements and my mom commented on how it was so wonderful to do such a thing but that "you'll never do this for any of your other kids". She also mentioned how my older brother had the most baby pictures taken and memories captured in his baby book and for each sibling thereafter, the photos and baby books were more and more sparse. I remember telling my mom that wasn't going to happen... but I secretly believed she was right.
Well, as it turns out, I not only take more photos than ever (especially since we've gone digital as well as the tragedy of Teagan making me even more of a 'photo-freak'), but our mailing list of friends and family has grown over the years too, so I make even more cards for each baby we've added to our family! I did opt to go simple in my card design this time around. So at least I'm learning a few things along the way.
Lastly...can anyone guess where Chip and Brock are headed right now as I post this blog? Look closely in their photo. Notice the Notre Dame hats. Yep. They're going toSouth Bend, Indiana to watch some football... [Notre Dame vs. Stanford] and take in some of the sights around the campus- including Touchdown Jesus. I don't know who was more excited as the left home this morning- Chip or Brock. I do know that they were happy to be spending the day together. What a great way to kick off the fall! Happy October to everyone reading this today...enjoy the colors, flavors and fun that this season brings.

They are going to LOVE the Notre Dame campus... the vibe there on game day is amazing... I'm a little jealous! :) (Yes, I know, a girl who loves football... it happens).

Your announcements are adorable, as are all the kids surrounding them. Hope you have a lovely weekend...

I have just started reading your blog again and what a cutey Crew is. He looks like a little precious moments doll. I have to say one of the cutest baby boys I have ever seen (other than my own -ha! ha!). Love that little face!! Can't wait to see him in person.

I noticed when I left a comment that our old picture was still up so I changed my profile to add Carissa. I am posting to see if it works!!

I'm curious and not to be too tacky or rude, but can you share with your readers what happened to Wyndam? Did the accident cause her illness or what she born that way? I hope I'm not coming off in a bad way, I'm just curious...

Absolutely LOVE the baby announcements. Wish I could do mine all over again, but that might be confusing since my boys are 7 and 9.

Oh well!

I hate to sound corny - but you have the most beautiful children. They are precious and Brock looks like a model with his glasses on.

My first (and only so far) grandson is a little over a year old and he still takes my breath away. The reason I even bring that up is because the picture of Crew took my breath away! So beautiful!!!!

From the outside looking in, you have gotten so many things "right" with your precious family. I so enjoy reading your blog!

Jodi~ In regards to the portion of your post about documenting and taking photographs of your children, I have a question. Since you mentioned the "going digital" move and so many other advances in technology since some of us have had our first children, how do you suggest that we not feel guilty about having more photos and such of our latter children. I have a daughter who will be 4 this month, and I do have several photographs of her, but since going digital, I have a few more of my 4 month old son. I was good at first with my daughter, but after she was about 2, she hid and shyed away from the camera. So, professional portraits and such were not even a possibility. How do you handle this situation. Do you just press on and try to take as many as you can from that point on? I feel horrible that I haven't taken her to have a professional portrait made, but in all honesty, I usually don't like the way they turn out, and for the $$, they are just not great. I feel like I could get some decent shots of my own and have them enlarged and printed on canvas if I wanted to, probably for less. I envy you and how many photos you take! I only have 2 kids and can't seem to keep up with them!! Congrats on new baby Crew!! Love his announcements!!

Love love love the announcements!! What did you use to make the ruffle shaped edge on the cream cardstock? Scissors would probably take too long...

Congratulations on the birth of Crew. He is stunning!!
