Some of my *new best friends*...

Yesterday, before I met these women, I knew only that we were a group of people who had three things in common...we live in Michigan, we have been involved with Scrap In Style TV, and we love scrapbooking. We met up at a scrapbook store...some of them drove several miles to get there and spent ALL DAY at the store. I was able to be there for the afternoon and evening, and it was a blessing in my life.
These girls were more than just women with MI driver's licenses and lots of ribbon in their stash! They were funny, inspiring, encouraging, entertaining, thoughtful, great cooks, and to top it off they all had big hearts. I fell in love with my 'scrapping' and the role it plays in my life even more after my time with this group. They let me talk a mile a minute, they let me scrap at half that speed =); they laughed at my stories, they made me feel like the time I spend doing scrap stuff is so very worth my energy. And sometimes I question it...I really do. I wonder if there is something else that I should bump up in my list of things I could/should do and make scrapping less of a priority.
They assured me in words, thoughts and actions, that it is serving a big purpose in my life. It was an amazing feeling for me to make a spiritual connection between life and scrapping. It may even sound ridiculous to some. But for me, it was nothing short of a blessing- to realize that when I scrap, my heart and soul is in the very place it is meant to be at times.
Hi to any of you girls in the picture here. I hope you know you are now a part of my ever-growing circle of friends. And I couldn't be happier about that. I hope you are too!

Hi Jody,
I have been a lurker on your blog for some time now. I can't even remember when or how I found it, but I do know, that I felt a connection immediatly. I too am from Michigan (grew up in spring lake) but now I am a southern girl. I too have a child with disabilities (I face the prospect of loosing him often), and I love the Lord with all my heart, and want to please him, and grow closer to him, and become more like him every day. I'm not quite sure why I'm writing, accept that you struck a chord tonight.
I also often question this scrappbooking passion of mine, and it's validity in my christian walk. It is always a balencing act for me to not be consumed by it. Just as I don't think it's about being happy but about being His, that another poster so aptly stated, I'm not thinking it's about memories either. I guess it was just refreshing to hear someone else temper this hobby with that question. I don't want to be distracted by something that I judge to be good, only to miss something that's better, or to forget that which is best. Thank you for putting it out there.
God bless, amy asnip

Hey, girl! I don't think I got to formerly meet you Saturday--I'm back on the left in grey sweatshirt--because I had to leave pretty soon after we took the photo. But I'm glad you got to come over for the crop. We'll have to do it again!
Just wanted to post though about your thoughts today. When I first started scrapbooking, it was through a friend in CM. I began to feel that spiritual connection with women as well through this craft. For a few years, I met with the same women and that grew. Then the CM seller moved and we all fell apart. It's cool that now a group has joined together again through various ways but all from SIS. Maybe this will all stick and we'll get togethat often. Who knows? In the short time I was there, even though I didn't say a lot, I listened. And I loved what I heard--encouragement, laughter, friendships beginning, oohs and aahs over pages. Very cool.
I needed to find some people who understand this side of me--the side that wants to create and remember. And I found some women that were just right. It was the highlight of my week, too.

Jody! I found your card again amidst my mess from Saturday and quickly put you into my favorites folder! Saturday was fantastic and I only wish that I could've stayed longer and gone to dinner with you all. I'm already looking forward to the next time we can all get together! It is truly a blessing to get to spend time with so many wonderful women and I still have a smile on my face! So glad that I got to meet you!

What store did you guys go to?

Pages in Time in Jenison or in GR is the best store that I've found...

In fact, I'm going there on Friday night with some girls. :)

It looks like you had a great time. :)

Hillary.
