Another fun thing to do...

Found this make-your-own index card like the vintage library cards I used to love thumbing through as a kid. Sometimes I miss things like the Dewey Decimal System now that we live in such an automated hi-speed world. {Although I love my wireless internet connection everyday!} There was something really fun about going to the drawers of cards and locating just the book I was looking for. I loved books about horses when I was young- 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade. I couldn't get enough about Man 'o War and other great throughbreds. I loved other books too... how to doodle and draw. Or "Where the Red Fern Grows" and later on every Calvin and Hobbes book I could get my hands on. Not the most challenging, I know, but still, very much a part of why I am the way I am today.

If you loved library index cards as much as me, you can go and make one for yourself. It's so Nitty.Gritty., you know? Fun, free, evokes fond memories, and involves more than one typestyle. Go. Have fun. Create some joy.

The Ann Arbor District Library has something like this as part of the online catalog.

Hello I just stumbled upon your blog today, for the first time. But the amount of energy you evoke in your writing, it so great.
I also was a huge fan of flipping thorugh the card catalog as a kid, its so crazy that we are the last generation that knew the world before the internet was so mainstream, have a great day~!

thanks for the link to your little piece of blog world.

every encounter i have ever had with you seems to leave me with a brighter, more hopeful impression of life. without ignoring all of its pain and darkness, you somehow make the colors and the Light more beautiful and vivid.

so not-surprisingly, i really like your blog :)

Hey, Jody.

I was wondering if you received my personal email to you - Lynette is my name and I discovered you on Noah/Adrienne's site. I contacted you using the address that you have on this site.

I know you're busy, but wanted to be sure that it went through.

it was the scent that i adored.
the scent of the wood holding all those cards, and the silence of the library in which it was housed.
