Lucky #7

Guess who's going to be a big brother this year?! We are all in shock and awe around here. It's early in the pregnancy too (just coming up on 7 weeks), but word is starting to get around and with the speed and connections of the world wide web I figure that I either have to tell everyone or no one. Since our kids already know this big news it's really only a matter of time before they can't help but tell everyone they know too. And yes, I'm being serious and truthful and trying to let it all sink in myself. Me. The one who once said "I never, ever, ever want to have kids" is now expecting baby #7. I can't help but trust that God knows what He's doing, because otherwise I could find myself totally overwhelmed.
Tomorrow is Wyndham's 9th birthday and I am feeling a bit reflective and emotional about that too. It's sort of unbelievable to me how the events of our lives have played out over the past decade. It seems like everytime I feel like I'm starting to feel a little bit in "control" God chooses to send another challenge/blessing our way. I just wonder how many more times He can surprise us anymore. =) But He's done it again!

Oh what a wonderful, unexpected surprise. I am about your age and until recently, I never wanted children at all but as I've been reading your blog for the last year or so, I have been changing my mind. You are a wonderful family and any child born into it will be a lucky child for sure.

I come here regularly but my own bubba has been keeping me pretty busy so I only just discovered your news!

I am so excited for you and can't wait to follow your progress!

We just discovered that I am 8 weeks pregnant with our second child and the news hasn't quite sunk in yet.

We know we'll have our hands full seeing as Annabelle is only 4 months old but it doesn't compare to your household.

Children are such wonderful gifts. X

Why is it that anonymous people never use any tact? Anyway, I just wanted to say congratulations on this news. Your family is blessed in many ways. Including the gift of children. Have a wonderful new year! Jan in IN

This really has nothing to do with me, but knowing Jody personally, I feel compelled to jump in.
First, human life is a miracle. It is mind boggling the conditions that have to occur for it to happen. Sure, a lot of people have babies, but a lot of people try and don't. A person who isn't convinced that there is a higher power might take issue with attributing that miracle to God, but that doesn't make it not so. I know that Jody takes her faith, as well as her calling as a mother very seriously, sharing it on her blog is a blessing to many people. The fact that some people think it's funny to purposely say things that might hurt her feelings is sad to me.
I hate the thought of dragging this out and making it something ugly, because it's not, it's incredibly joyful...a new sweet baby is going to be born into a very busy and very loving family, I for one am very happy for the Ferlaaks:)

I believe people who put all their personal details on an open blog do it to raise awareness and share beliefs and opinions. Surely the comment section can't just be for an ego boost?? I just struggle with how someone with SO many children acts suprised when they fall pregnant again??? and to Mother SO many children I just think is a massive responsiblity...to me it's not about money but hours in a day and I can't imagine how all those children can get what they need? Still good luck, congratulations and yes every baby is special and wonderful....ENJOY!!!

Congratulation to you & your family on the news of a brand new baby joining your family this year. I am currently 20wks pregnant with our #7 & like you our new bub was a very big suprise, (breastfeeding & on the mini pill when we conceived) Our other children are aged 11, 7, 5, 4, 3, & 18mths, so like you we have a wonderfully busy noisy house & we wouldnt change a thing. Our kids all get plenty of attention & dont go without anything least of all love, It saddens me to when people assume children from big families are somehow disadvantaged because from our perspective our children are anything but. They share & are kind & not selfish at all, We have people comment often how its so sweet that they all watch out for eachother & are so kind & caring. I wish you all the best during your pregnancy. :)
