Getting things done.

I find it ironic that a newborn can sleep for hours in a day {and Crew is a good sleeper!} and yet I still feel like I can't get things done around my house. How does that happen?!
Maybe it's because my 'to-do list' is too long.
Maybe it's because I have 4 other kiddos that get things out, need help with homework/reading, never-ending laundry to fold and a stack of birth announcements and thank you notes to write.
I had to post more photos and love that even though the older kids don't like to stop and pose for me anymore, that I can actually capture them doing everyday stuff together once in awhile. This time they were all watching the wedding scene from the video "The Princess Bride". The girls loved seeing Princess Buttercup all dressed up in her gown and crown, while Brock was laughing at the way the officiant said 'mawwigge is what bwings us togethoe today". They all thought that Andre the Giant was funny instead of scary and thankfully it was too close to dinnertime that the girls didn't get to see any sword-fighting. =)
I guess part of the reason why I don't get everything done each day is the simple fact that I want to be "in the moment" with my kids and family and love and laugh with them and play and have fun too. That's a good reason to let things go, if you ask me.
I encourage you to let things go and just enjoy and live in the moment too. It's good for everyone! At least until you run out of clean clothes to wear.

The "smallest one" looks like his dad! Don't know your family personally but have been reading this blog for a good while now. The other kids...CUTE!!!!
As for letting things go...I'm an "empty nester" and think that's REALLY the way to go...I do my floors when I can't stand them anymore. People that visit seem to think I'm a good house-keeper too. The "secret" is to keep things picked up! That too will coem for you Jody!!!
Blessings........

absolutely!!! that is one thing i have learned since my son went to heaven. don't sweat the small stuff. the laundry can wait, the dishes can wait, the dusting can wait. you only have 'this' day with your child once!! enjoy it while you can. we have no guarantee of how many we will have with out loved ones!! i have learned that if their bedtime is 8:00 pm and they are still up at 8:10 pm, the world will not come to a crashing halt. the sun WILL rise the next day, i promise. (unless Jesus comes back) btw...your new precious gift is adorable, as are all your children!! i love the way they wrinkle their forheads like that one photo!! too cute!!

Well of course you can't get anything done. You have that yummy little bug to snuggle all day and kiss and hug. What else in the world is more important than that. Well except his equally wonderful sibilings I suppose.

Enjoy the moment!!

I grew up watching The Princess Bride, it's one of my FAVORITE movies of all time. Your children are precious (ALL of them) and I love coming to your site and seeing new pictures!

I had to laugh at the Princess Bride quote...one of my best friends used to laugh and laugh and repeat that statement at just the "right" times! Great memories...thanks for twigging that one for me.
good times...

I've been reading your journal for about five months now, but I'll 'delurk' to say that your family is beautiful.. congratulations on your new baby and four other precious little ones! I loved seeing them all together on the bed like that. I only have two now and I'm surprised you have time to update your journal, let alone get things done around the house. Don't forget your body is still recuperating/getting back to shape too.

Oh, he is so sweet. Do you just have to force yourself to put him down? I was like that with both of mine when they were so small, and I still love to hold them and snuggle them in bed (7 & 3-in 16 days!).
Yesterday in MOPS, the speaker (a wonderful woman/ mom of 6 that is part of the leadership in our group), spoke of being in the moment. She said that you'll never look back and remember that you didn't do all of the laundry or that you had cereal for dinner, you'll look back and remember the precious time that you spent with your kids. It was so touching and so encouraging, especailly when I find myself getting so caught up in the way the house looks, or if all of our clothes are ironed perfectly.
Have you heard of Fly Lady? She has some great tips that help me to stay on track with things without being consumed by them... it's made a big difference in my life! She doesn't emphasize doing things perfectly, which is what I really like about her!
I didn't mean to write a book, I just really wanted to tell you that your family is so precious! Thanks for sharing them with us!
Love the movie and my daughter cracks up during the entire thing!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Jody, Crew is absolutely breathtaking. :) What a honey!!!

I love the pictures of your 4 other cuties watching The Princess Bride too... so sweet. :) Those are fun moments to catch because they're typically not captured... but they're just as precious.
