How did it get to be February already?

I was actually surprised today when I realized that it was a new month. I feel like January didn't really 'happen' because so much of it was spent in hospital rooms and caring for Wyndham full-time at home. It was long and stressful, but all of a sudden it is gone. I am really hoping that February will make up for the rough start we had to 2008. So far- so good. =)
First of all, I have to say "Happy Birthday" to my nephew, Luke. I hope it was a really great way to start the month...nothing like turning 5 and partying at Chuck E. Cheese!
Thankfully my mom is still here with my family and we all are 'getting spoiled'. It has been such a blessing to have her here all week. Wyndham continues to need lots of extra time and attention and care. She is still eating light meals and she only eats when we give her bites...she's either not gotten her appetite back, or is just still tired and worn out. But we are happy that she seems to be making bits of progress each day. She is tolerating her medicine okay- which is an answer to our prayers and a great relief at this point in her recovery. She is still very tired and just this afternoon we started to see more signs of her personality coming back. She did a little bit of 'jibber-jabbering' as she watched cartoons and smiled and just seemed to be a bit more herself. We let her go back to her kindergarten class yesterday for just a few hours in the afternoon- just to see her friends and to see how much she could tolerate the demands on her there. She seemed to enjoy the first hour or so- but she zoned out for the last hour. Then she came home and later had a two hour nap...followed by about 14 hours of sleep until she woke at 11:30 this morning.
SO, you can see that she is still very weak and needs lots of care. Thanks though, to so many of you who keep praying for her full recovery. We expect that she will be back to her 'normal self'...hopefully sometime this month! We just take it one day at a time.
Today that meant a little bit more of our 'normal routine' was implemented. I have missed several days of work and just have felt worn out and overwhelmed. But I have to admit I felt 'good' today. I feel like I am finally getting on top of some of the things that got put on hold. I managed to get my new glasses this week (mine were broken before Wyndham ended up in the hospital with seizures 3 weeks ago) and that's why I posted a couple of pics of me here. {And you can't really tell...but I'm not 'showing yet' for those of you who wondered about me. That will probably happen next week. =)} I say that because I have never been 'cute while I'm pregnant'. I tend to just get 'fat all over'.
Maybe the chocolate chip cookies I got to bake this afternoon play into that somehow. Or the Pistacio bread my mom baked that has always been one of my favorites! {Yum...Jacque! I ate a piece for you while it was still warm! =)} No matter. Today it just felt good to be able to teach my classes, bake good food in my kitchen, and snuggle with my kids while we watched cartoons on our new tv. Yes. I think February is going to be a wonderfully, mellow month. So far- so good!

My life changes daily with my health, so I understand the motto of doing what you can while you can, and going with the flow when you can't. I'll continue to pray that you are given the patience, strength and grace to embrace it each day and enjoy the moments. Love reading your blog each day... many blessings to you and yours...

girl you are cute, pregnant or not - and while I'm in no way shape or form near your predicament, my own girlie had the flu last weekend (total yuck combined with worry - how can that little body get sooo hot?@?@???). Anyway, she still isn't up to speed - a week later, and she doesn't have an appetite. So her 'curve' might be different than Wnydham's, and your own girlie might be a few steps behind. I guess I'm just saying hand in there - there is a light. And can't wait to see that little pregnant belly - I won't be having another one, so have to live vicariously, lol.

Thanks for the update! Glasses are cute, hair is cute...and so are you! :-)

I'm happy to hear about Wyndham's progress. If in fact she had the flu..from what I've heard it takes a really long time to get over it! "X" againest any of your other family of getting it!

Oh...and I love the Little Kitty toaster on your counter! (smile)

BTW...did you tell us when approximately you are due? You probably did but with reading about Wyndham I don't remember!

Love the new glasses Jody...and I can't imagine you anything but cute while your pregnant but then again I love pregnant bellies. NO, really I do. Actually it's a bit of a fetish. I am one of those creepy people that ask stragers if I can rub their tummies...good thing I am in Utah...tee hee.
And yes, my prayers are still with you and your family. You are an amazing person, mother and a child of God. Your children are blessed to have you as their mom.
((HUGS)) to Wyndham.

I love your blog and look forward to reading it every day or 2. You really know how to help put the things that matter into perspective and disregard those that don't.
I just had to write and say I LOVE your comment about getting fat while pregnant. Like you I'm only small, about 5'2 and anywhere from 46-49 kilos not pregnant. But the minute the two lines appear on a preg test I just seem to bloat. I ended up in the 80's kilos by the time I delived my kids. And yes it does come off but I GET HUGE. It's so nice to read about someone else who doesn't get cute and sexy pregnant!!
