More cookies.

If Christmas cookies are any indication of the season, well then Christmas is in full-swing in our home. The kids are all very happy about that! These are the cookies we baked while everyone fussed and had meltdowns- most of that was done prior to the decorating. It's a chore to make all the kids feel like they are getting enough turns, or tastes of the dough, or the opportunity to stand on the chair and watch and help. That must be why I'm making so many cookies- just to feel like I'm being 'fair' to the kids individually. Funny though, they never clamour around me when it's time to clean up!

As for Nitty.Gritty.

I feel as though I'm neglecting my blog when I go a couple of days without posting. However, some of you are on my Christmas card list, and if you intend to get a card in the mail from me, it's going to cost you a post here and there this month. I'm working on balance and the true meaning of Christmas, and so far Nitty.Gritty. hasn't risen to the top of my priority list. I know...it's a shocker to some of you, but that's the way it goes.

I'm still here and I'm still reading the comments, and I may even come back and leave the recipe for these Spritz cookies. So, feel free to let me know how your Christmas season is going, or even send me a recipe for your all-time favorite cookie. I just may have to whip up a batch or two!

If you listed "blog" above "make cookies with the kids" on your priority list, I would have to quit reading :)

We ran crazy all afternoon and went by the grocery store on the way home. It is bad when your kids make you feel like the best mom in the world when you let them buy "cup 'o' noodles" instead of "ramen" because they were on sale for 5/$1 instead of the really expensive 3/$1!

They are so happy to get noodles for dinner! We also bought some cookies from the bakery and doughnuts. After we get the gifts in the mail to faraway family this week, we will start baking....cinnamon rolls are our favorite!

I used to make Spritz cookies BUT they were so hard to make...to push through that Spritz maker thing. Is there a secret???
It makes me "jealous" to see your works of art!!!!

Yum!
I'm making the sandbakelser today to celebrate St. Nicholas Day. Of what I understand, the traditional cookie is a gingerbread type, but my kids are into butter cookies, so we're making our own tradition!

BEAUTIIIIIIIIIIFULLLLLLLLL Cookies Jody! You make them look like works of art! I love you creativity! We make HOMEMADE MONKEY BREAD every year on christmas morning. The kids love it! In fact my 13 year old came home the other day with papers from english class, they had to writed an essay on what they like about the holidays and traditions their families had Number one thing was MONKEY BREAD! LOL! The sad thing however was he said that many in his class didnt really do anything special. Christal

Hiya Jody~
Baking and decorating cookies has always been part of my tradition with my kids too. Yes, it can be a pain in the butt and cause a big mess but it's those pictures you look at a few years later that makes all the cleaning up of the sprinkles on the floor and rolling out of the dough all worth it! It's nice to see other moms who will take the time to do the little things like this...because it is those things that they remember the most. We don't remember days, we remember moments~ God Bless

Sprizt were my favorite when I was a child! Now I know why my mom never let me help. They are tough ones, looks like you did a great job!

Baking with my kids can drive me crazy. I don't have a lot of patience. I give you credit. Maybe I should try to do it today!

Hi Jody - I have yet been able to make Spritz cookies like my mom makes, even though it is the exact same recipe! Yesterday I surprised my sister on her birthday by visiting her. It was only an hour away, but you would have thought I came all the way from Michigan. It was great to see her face. Now that I have my sister's birthday gift out of the way (she is VERY hard to shop for), I'm looking forward to finishing up all my shopping!

We all understand. Things get hectic this time of year. Snow days, Christmas vacations, shopping, wrapping, mailing, etc. We adore you and will be here when you get to come back and play.;)

Hang with kids now, blog later! Please post the Spritz recipe...I'm trying to get more domesticated (farther away from college student life style now that I'm finally done with school) and love trying new things.
