Hot topic.

The last time I posted a list of baby names that Chip and I were considering while we were expecting Crew there were quite a few opinions and comments posted in response. Since you all have your own opinions, I am guessing this time around won't be any different.
Now, we haven't even determined whether or not this is the final list of possibilities, and I have a strong feeling that it's not. But for your fun and interest I decided to post the names on our list as of right now. Some of the names are my selections, some are Chip's. They are in random order. Feel free to leave your comments...just don't be so rude that you take all the fun out of this process. Afterall, pregnancy has its own aches and pains and I don't really need to add to those at this point! =)
Here's our current list of baby boy names:
Austin
Campbell
Cajetan (a distant name in Chip's family lineage... pronounced KAJ-uh-tan)
Dain
Eamon
Easton
Gannon
Grady
Jock
Maguire
Okello
Pierce
Preston
Reid
Ryder
Seamus
Tait
Teague
Wilson

  2. Well, I'm not as fond of Okello and Cajetan. But I love all the others. Grady and Wilson, Eamon and Dain seem like they would really be a nice combo with your last name. Nicely unique, but still easy to shout out the back door when you're calling the kids in for supper, lol.

  3. I love the name Preston!!!

  4. I really like Ryder, Pierce, or Campbell!!! Great name selections!!! :)

  5. Hi Jody, I'm due with baby boy #4 right around the same time as you (i'm due 8/28). We had a tough time choosing this time, since we were very conscious of picking a name that complemented the other 3. My favorites from your list are Austin and Eamon. Good luck-- I know it's an agonizing decision. Funny how they grow into whatever you choose :)

  6. I know a Maguire (named after Frank Maguire, the coach!) and a Campbell. I even have a portrait of a Grady on my wall - my great-grandmother's brother Grady Brewer. I can't wait to see what you name him - how much longer do we have to wait?

  7. Great names! The two that stood out to me were Jock and Maguire...Maguire being my very favorite. ;) You are brave posting them! We always keep our kids names secret, even from family, until they are born. :D It's fun and way less people say, "Oh, I don't like that at all" AFTER we've already named our baby. ;))

  8. Teague!! Makes me immediately think of Teagan. I think she would be honored.

  9. So many names I love on your list, but my favorites are Reid and Pierce. I like the way they are simple, one syllable names, like Chip, Crew, and Brock.

  10. I LOVE the name Tait. I think that's an awesome one to be on the list. You always come up with a name that is both fun and fits your newest addition's personality. I can't wait to see what you decide on when the time comes. So excited for you!

  12. I really like your list, but won't comment further since a couple names are on our list as well. I will say that Cajetan is not on our list though. ;)

  13. Pierce Ferlaak - sounds like someone famous!!

Teague reminds me of Teagan, so this would be wonderful!

  14. Jody, I took care of a newborn and cared for him until he was nearly twelve..he was named Patton .I have never known another..he was a sweet baby and has grown to be a good man..
    Blessings~

  15. I have an Austin, so I'm very partial to that one... but I love Teague. (I also know a little Teague and he has curly hair, a beautiful smile and a sweet disposition.) Just saying!

  16. I love Teag....great way to honor Teagan. I also like Grady and Ryder from your list.

  17. Easton, Grady and Pierce are my favorites...I don't know anyone named Easton, but there's a good chance I'm falling in love with that name...

Best of wishes on choosing a name. You have some good, unique names on that list!

  18. I love Teague...for his big sister! (Especially if you are planning for this to be your last child??)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Campbell and Teague are my favorites! Austin is way to popular for you, Jody! I have a friend whose boys are named Kylan and Nolan...like both of those.

  20. I really like Easton, Teague, Grady, and Wilson! I also like the name Joel and Aidan (not on your list lol) ;)

  21. Fun fun fun!!! I LOVE them! You two always pick such fun, unique names.

    I LOVE:

    Campbell
    Dain
    Easton
    Gannon
    Grady
    Maguire
    Preston
    Reid
    Ryder
    Tait

But by far, my favorite on the list is Teague. I think you know why ;-)

  22. I am also a fan of more unique names. I think it is hard when they have to be spelled for everyone, though. I really like these from your list:

    Reid
    Tait
    Grady

And I'll throw in my suggestion of 'Quinn.' Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  23. haha love this!
Dain, Grady, Reid, Easton, Campbell, and Quinn too! lol

    ReplyDelete
  24. I vote for a 4 letter name to go along with the rest of the guys. As an elementary school teacher I'd advise you to choose something easy to pronounce and spell it in a traditional way. It makes life easier for everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Tait, Teague and Cajetan are fabulous - also like Pierce!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love Teague for Teagan ,myself:) And Saemas and Eamon.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would hesitate to use Teague. I fear you would run the risk of having him wonder if you wished he were a girl or that you had your Tegan back instead of him. Though you would certainly mean it as an honor, kids don't always see that - it might end up being a shadow instead of a tribute.

  28. LOVE LOVE LOVE Tait, Pierce, and Wilson. Also to add one to the list -- Conrad. I'd love to use it, but my husband's boss' son is named Conrad. :) LOVE naming babies. enjoy and many blessings.

  29. Reid and Campbell get my votes. No matter, whatever his name is he's gonna be such a blessing and a cutie!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Reid. Maybe it's my age, but Grady reminds me of "Sanford and Son". Not crazy about Jock, since it rhymes with Brock.

    ReplyDelete
  31. for some reason I was named anonymous in my post. I think if you are going to save something, you should put your name on it.
    From Ann, "Karen's Christmas friend"

  32. Great names Jody!! Of course Preston is my fav because I've got a 5 year old cutie with that name. And our last name is REED so I thought it was funny to see it on your list next to REID. I also REALLY like Campbell
    Dain, Pierce, Ryder and Teague.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Cajetan is unique i like it. I am not fond of Jock. I think kids would call him Jock strap and a litany of other crazy things!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love Teague..what an honor...
God will show you the perfect name for your perfect little one!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm really liking Campbell Teague and Grady Teague! I think both of those names would fit so well with your other children's names, and what a wonderful way to honor Teagan! I also really like Easton and Tait as well.
Good luck narrowing it down, I know it is a challenge!

  36. I LOVE them all except Jock. I particularly love Teague (reminds me of the boy version of Teagan.) Can't wait to hear the FINAL name.

    ReplyDelete
  37. For what it's worth, I like boys names that beging with consonants, seems to make it more solid, I think boys should have solid boys names and also not names that they can be teased with in school later because kids can be REALLY mean and gross.... ie, Seamus (Seaweed or Semen), Jock (Jockstrap) I l really like the names Pierce and Preston. 38. My favorite off the list is Easton. I know my husbands would be Maguire. Blessings to all of you!

  39. Easton or Maguire!

  40. Grady, Reid, and Cajetun or my top 3 favorites :0)

  41. Easton is my favorite from your list.

  42. Great list of names! All of your kids have terrific names by the way. These are my favorites from your list: Austin, Cajetan, Easton, Wilson, Dain, Teague and Preston.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well since my oldest son is Campbell Wilson...I vote for either one of those. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love the names list! There are so many great names to choose from.

I know you were really considering Jock last time and if it is still on your list then I think that is a good sign. I do think you will have to get used to two of your boys responding to you whenever you call "Brock" or "Jock", but it will result in some funny moments, I am sure. My mom's name is Ellen and her mom is Helen and my mom has great stories from the wrong one ending up on the phone with each other's friends when my mom was growing up.

Congratulations on #7. Regardless of what name you choose, your child will be well loved. And in the end that is what is truly important.

  45. I think Teague would be great in honor of Teagan!

  46. Hi Jody,

First let me say that I am so pleased that all of the wonderful ladies here have been so sweet and thoughtful with their comments and that the "Negative Nancy's" have kept their tongues.

Okay, on to the fun stuff: I love the name Teague! I think that would be so sweet and think that you and Chip are such loving, devoted, thoughtful and conscientious parents that he would never misunderstand your intent with using a variation of your sweet, precious Teagan's name. I am done having my babies (I have 3 wonderful kids--Brooke, Mason and Lindsey) and if Lindsey had been a boy, her name would have been Laif (rhymes with safe) so if it strikes your fancy you can have that since I won't be needing it :)

Wishing all of God's richest blessings on you all as the date draws nearer and nearer :)

Thank you for allowing us into your lives!

  47. Wilson is my maiden name and Pierce is my second son's middle name so I'm kind of partial to those too. His name is Oliver Pierce. If our last child would have been a boy we were thinking about the name Hemingway.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think that a one syllable name would be nice, keeping in theme with your other "boys", Chip included!! I don't think Jock would would be a good idea, though...too close to Brock and not to mention all the "jockstrap" jokes...I LOVE Teague...such a sweet way to honor Teagan!! My personal favorite isn't on your list, though! My fav is "Gaige", but that's because my daughter's name is "Paige"!! wink :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. WOW that is some list. I am voting for Pierce or Preston but I have to say I like Teague too.. for Teagan. That would be ultra sweet.

  50. As I'm about to make your rhubarb cream cake recipe, I thought I would comment on your baby boy names. I'm sure out of all that list there's probably one or two that are really speaking to you and you'll know it is the right one no matter what any of us say. With that in mind, I could see Cajetan but if he took the nickname of "Cage". I do like the one-syllabledness with your last name. I think Jock sounds like a strong name, and if I'm not mistaken was a name from your Crew list?

    Happy pregnancy!

    Teague has my vote.

  52. Teague, Teague, Teague!!!

If this is your last baby, teague is a glorius way to honor Teagan. You will have come full circle. Unsurmountable to joy to heartbreaking tragedy to joy once again. I LOVE it!!!

    Please, though, no Cajetan.

  53. My favorites are Pierce and Teague.

  54. I am with the Teague vote! Little worried about what the kids would say to a boy named Jock.

  55. Hi Jody...
I don't think that I have ever posted but thought this was a great time to do so!
I think that we actually met many years ago...I am friends with the Davises. I so clearly remember the time around your accident as well as the loss of thier sweet boy.
I also know where the name Jock comes from....I love it! I actually saw him a few months ago when Mark and family were in town. Whatever you name your boy will be perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I guess you're having a boy?! lol I must say I'm partial to the name Campbell, as that's my eldest son's name. We always get a lot of compliments on it! I also like Reid and Teague. Like Anne said above, it reminds me of Teagan, and I think she would have been honoured to have a baby brother named after her!

Can I suggest Campbell Teague Ferlaak? Perfect! lol

    ReplyDelete
  57. Not crazy about Okello - but love the rest! Can't wait to "meet" this new baby!

    Pierce
    Reid
    Tait
    Teague

  59. I love Preston, always have....easy to pronounce, rolls right off the tongue...and paired with your last name it sounds like a name destined for success!

  60. tait....my favorite....

  62. I had to remove my comment cause blogger did a no-no!! I was saying it wont matter the name you choose because you will have a beautiful boy no matter what you name it. All your names are lovely and have precious meaning to you. Not even going to share which one I like. Just plain happy for you. :)

  63. Hi Jody

What a nice set of comments this time around:)!!

That is one great list of names. I am impressed that you two could agree on a potential list...Nick and I could not agree on one name let alone a list of them!

I do love Teague because of its associations of course, but all the names are strong and individual and sound good with your surname.

Can't wait to see which you choose.

    love to you

  66. My nephew, Reid, is the sweetest, "huggiest" boy (even still at age 9). It's my favorite name on your list. Although, I also really like Austin and Preston.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I like Seamus and think more people would have picked it if they knew how it is pronounced (Shamus- with a long a sound).

    ReplyDelete
  68. I love them ALL! I love the unique names you choose! I like unique names myself, even though at the time the names I chose didn't seem popular or common at all, now they are getting more popular, which I don't like! I like to be different!

  69. My favorites are Campbell, Pierce & Reid...in that order. :)
    Congratulations!

  70. As a compromise? Teague as a middle name 1) Allows an "honor" to Teagan but also 2) by giving him his own first name, honors his unique-ness........

    ReplyDelete
  71. Wilson is close to my heart...it is our son's middle name in honour of his amazing and generous Grandpa. Jody, you are such a unique individual. You inspire me to be a great Mum! Blessings to you with this pregnancy and many prayers for your family! xo
